we will discuss about Utility Engineering in factories. Utility is very
important to run a factory. Different factories need different types of
utilities to run their factory. Basic utilities are likely-
1) Power
2) Boiler
3)
Compressor
4) WTP
5) ETP
6) Chiller
7) Forklifts
etc.
1) Power:
To run the factory power is the most essential utility. Power could be available
by distribution line from Government authority like PDB, WZDCL, DESCO, BREB
etc.
The main components for connection of electricity’s
are -
A) Transformer
B) LT Panel
C) PFI Panel
D) Distribution Box etc.

b) Why transformer Oil is used?
c) What is PFI and why it is used?
Individual
factory may set up Own power set up by GENERATOR.
Generator:
During load shedding or when main electricity is not available, then to
support the factory Generator is needed. There are different types and brand is
available in the market. Depends on the source Energy and costing factory
Engineers select the Generator type. Gas, Diesel and Furnace Oil Generator is
common in our country.

Corrective maintenance?

d) What is RT of Cooling Tower?
e) What types of cooling system is used?
2) Boiler:
Boiler is another most important
utility in factory. To produce steam boiler is essential. Different types of Boiler
are available in the market. Like Generator to run boiler it needs Gas/Furnace
Oil/Diesel etc as a fuel. In Boiler Soft water is used, because the more the
hardness of water the more chance to formation of scale inside the boiler. For
making the soft water it needs softener plant.
