IELTS band score description

IELTS is a multi-level exam. You get a score between 1 and 9 for each section. Half scores such as 6.5 are possible. Universities often demand an IELTS score of 6 or 7.
The Band score descriptions are as follows:-
Band 9: Expert user: has fully operational command of the language: appropriate, accurate and fluent with complete understanding.
Band 8: Very good user: has fully operational command of the language with only occasional unsystematic inaccuracies and inappropriateness. Misunderstandings may occur in unfamiliar situations. Handles complex detailed argumentation well.
Band 7: Good user: has operational command of the language, though with occasional inaccuracies, inappropriateness and misunderstandings in some situations. Generally handles complex language well and understands detailed reasoning.
Band 6: Competent user: has generally effective command of the language despite some inaccuracies, inappropriateness and misunderstandings. Can use and understand fairly complex language, particularly in familiar situations.
Band 5: Modest user: has partial command of the language, coping with overall meaning in most situations, though is likely to make many mistakes. Should be able to handle basic communication in own field.
Band 4: Limited user: basic competence is limited to familiar situations. Has frequent problems in understanding and expression. Is not able to use complex language.
Band 3: Extremely limited user: conveys and understands only general meaning in very familiar situations. Frequent breakdowns in communication occur.
Band 2: Intermittent user: no real communication is possible except for the most basic information using isolated words or short formula in familiar situations and to meet immediate needs. Has great difficulty understanding spoken and written English.
Band 1: Non-user: essentially has no ability to use the language beyond possibly a few isolated words.
Band 0: Did not attempt the test: No assesable information provided.

Feroza’s Childhood

Feroza’s Childhood was full of sufferings and sorrows. She never had a moment of happiness in her life . All she remembered from her childhood was the extreme want of food, want of shelter and want of clothing.
In 1972 at the age of 12 she was married to a 24 year old unemployed man. Feroza entered into her husband’s house with the dreams and hope of a young girl but all she saw was more want. It was Feroza who worked for a handful of grains to feed herself, her mother-in-law and her husband. When her first son was born, she was 19. The birth of a child meant another mouth to feed. purpose of reading test in IELTS

There are four skill test in IELTS test.  Reading test is one of them. Why this test is included in IELTS Test- The IELTS Reading test is designed to assess a wide range of reading skills, including how well a examinees-
  • Read for the general sense of a passage
  • Read for the main ideas from the passage
  • Read for detail in a passage
  • Understand inferences and implied meaning from the passage
  • Recognize a writer’s opinions, attitudes and purpose
  • Follow the development of an argument
This is the case for whichever version of the IELTS test one examinees are taking.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: PRODUCT RETURN
Fancy Foods wishes to inform the public that pieces of metal have been found in some jars of Fancy foods chicken Curry (Spicy). The batches of the jars have numbers from J6617 to J6624. The batch number is printed on the bottom of each jars.
If you have any jars with these batch numbers, please return them (preferably unopened) to the supermarket where you purchased them. You can also return them to the factory (Fancy foods retailers, Blacktown). Fancy foods will pay $10 for each jar returned unopened and $5 for each jar already opened.
No payment will be made for empty jars., which do not need to be needed. However, the company's retailing manager will be interested to hear from people who have consumed chicken curry from any of the above batch numbers. In particular, it will be helpful if they can give information about the place of purchase of the product.
REWARD
Fancy foods will pay a reward of $10,000 to $50,000 for information which lead to the conviction of any person found guilty of placing metal pieces in its products. If you have such information, please contact the customer relations manager, Fancy foods, Retilers, Blacktown.

BRITISH COUNCIL BANGLADESH -IELTS INFORMATION

IELTS ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXAM
International English Language Testing System 
Are you planning to study or train abroad? Are you applying to an institution and need to prove your level of English? Do you need to raise your standard in English? Then we can help you with an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.
WHERE IS IELTS RECOGNISED?IELTS is accepted by most UK, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand academic institutions. In the United States it is increasingly gaining recognition as an alternative to TOEFL (Teaching of English as a Foreign Language).

WHAT TYPE OF IELTS SHOULD YOU TAKE?
You can take either the Academic or General Training modules. Choose the Academic module if you are planning to undertake academic study in a higher education institution.If you are planning to undertake non-academic training or apply for immigration to Australia, Canada or New Zealand, we recommend you take the General Training module.
You will be tested in listening, reading, writing and speaking whichever module you decide to take. For further information contact ourexamination officer.

HOW MUCH WILL IELTS COST?
The registration fee for the exam is Tk.12,800/- for either the General Training or Academic modules. You can register for IELTS at any of our offices in DhakaChittagong and Sylhet or Service1 booth at selected Standard Chartered Bank.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE TEST BE? Although test dates vary, we run a regular service so you can take your test throughout the year. Find out when you can take your test.
Usually, tests are taken at our centres in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, and Sylhet. Sometimes, you may need to take the test elsewhere - we will let you know one week before the test if this happens.
Candidates need to report at their respective venue by 11:30 am. You will take the Writing, Reading and Listening papers together. The writing and reading papers last for 60 minutes and the listening paper for approx 40 minutes.
The Speaking test is taken separately, either on the same day or on a different day, and lasts for about 15 minutes. You will receive an SMS confirmation from British Council 3 to 4 days before the test.

WHEN AND HOW WILL YOU RECEIVE YOUR RESULTS?Results arepublished on the 12th day after the test. You can view your results on our website.
Results will be returned to you as a Test Report Form. There is no pass or fail mark. Scores are given on a band scale of one to nine (with one being a non-user and nine being an expert user of the English language).

WHAT SUPPORT WILL YOU RECEIVE FROM BRITISH COUNCIL?
We offer many options for you to prepare for the test effectively. When you register for the test you can immediately get access to our online preparation course ROAD TO IELTS.  You can also register for the One-day Workshop where a Cambridge trained Examiner will cover exam techniques, format, tips and practice tests. Cambridge Mock Tests are also available on a first come first serve basis. However, if you intend to take a longer course, you can register at ourTeaching Centre for a 32 hour preparation course. In addition to all these, there is a rich collection of IELTS study materials and online tests available at our Resource Centre.

     British Council Bangladesh has collaborated with Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh to enhance your journey to register for your IELTS exams. Service 1 branches are located in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet – geographically available for your convenience. Get SMART, Register at Service 1.

Step 1: Click here to find your nearest Service 1 branch details.  You will need to fill out a British Council Examinations Deposit slip (available at Service 1) and then pay your fess at the payment counter.
Step 2: After your payment please attach the “British Council copy” of deposit slip, 2 recent passport size photographs and a clear photocopy of your valid passport to your print out of the IELTS Application Summary page. You should keep the “Customer copy” with you.
